Aw yeah, It’s time for some gumbo…but not just any gumbo, GUMBO CAKE! This is the making of a realistic gumbo cake!
I’m using my realistic cake-making skills to pay homage to a favorite dish in Louisiana. It is definitely in my top favorite meals of all time! Nothing tastes better on a cold winter day, waiting on a hurricane, or even a hot summer day. I just love it so much.
My maw maw makes a pretty fantastic gumbo and so do I but what I am getting ready to show you takes the cake.

This gumbo is made entirely of chocolate and fondant. Would have been made of all chocolate, which if you don’t know by now is my absolute favorite, but all the stores were closed as we prepared for hurricane Ida so I had to use whatever was in the cabinets.
This is up for debate but I believe you can’t have gumbo without boiled eggs…I love some boiled eggs in gumbo so I definitely had to include it in this cake.
Along with, sausage, shrimp, chicken, crawfish, and crab. I would have added a chocolate smoked turkey neck as well, but again we were preparing for a hurricane and I only had time and material to do what I could. But no worries, it still came out to be a pretty good looking and tasting cake.
Look at that. Ca C’est Bon!
Check out how I made this gumbo cake.
